Crispy Fish and Chips Recipe

Fish and Chips is a classic comfort food featuring crispy battered fish with golden fries. A favorite in pubs and homes, it balances crunchy exterior with tender interior.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) white fish fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup cold sparkling water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 large potatoes, cut into fries

Instructions

  1. Prepare batter
    Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in cold sparkling water until smooth.
  2. Prepare fries
    Fry potato sticks in hot oil until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Fry fish
    Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Dip fish in batter, fry 4–5 minutes until crispy.
  4. Serve
    Serve fish and chips hot with tartar sauce and lemon wedges.
